Lambeth Declaration – a joint document of faith leaders in the UK
On 16 June 2015 signed faith leader in the UK Lambeth Declaration, the document which highlights a joint appeal of faith communities in addressing climate change. The newly launched declaration calls for an urgent action in addressing climate change.
‘Climate change is already disproportionately affecting the poorest in the world,’ highlights the document, therefore: ‘we are all called to care for the earth and have a responsibility to live creatively and sustainably in a world of finite resources.’
The document underlines: ‘The scale of change needed to make the transition to a low carbon economy is considerable and the task urgent.’ This should be done on all possible levels, incl. politics, business and civil society. Faith communities are called to contribute and ‘redouble our efforts to reduce emissions that result from our own institutional and individual activities.’
